To say I’m excited is an understatement! The sun is shining, I am sitting in the garden with my little trusty laptop. Finally doing the “lifestyle” of a writer, complete with sunhat and running gear (A strange combo – I know) oh and a lovely cup of tea. Ellie is busy in the shedio creating her new business cards and all is well with the world.
I have, hence the strange attire, had a very successful run, a lovely lunch and I have some coaching scheduled for this afternoon. Utter bliss. However, here I am as excitable as a cat on a hot tin roof.
Why ? Because I have a date tonight and being that is my well deserved day off I am going to start getting ready about 4pm.
The excitement is ridiculous, because I have been with this man for over twenty years! Its not our anniversary, its not a special occasion and its not a voucher. It’s such purely and simply because we want to spend some quality time just the two of us. I am not going to be squeezing him in between appointments or frantically changing in the disabled loo straight after work. No I am actually going to savour the anticipation. I’ve even got new shoes, (ok you got me, any excuse).
My point is this, it doesn’t matter how long you’ve been together, how grey and strangely predictable you’ve become, every now and then it’s important to do the fun things you used to do together just for the hell of it. I hope its worth all the effort, that he laughs at my jokes, likes what I’m wearing and makes sure he has a shave and wears his new smart/casual shoes. There you see, its like first date all over again. Wish me luck, I’m off to decide what to wear, which could take a while!
